La La La I lost my job :(
Well this week has kinda been a doozie (is that how you spell it?!?) anyways the spa I was working for closed down without much warning. Was told Monday closed Wednesday. Yeah. Sooooo guess it's time to go job hunting again.. blahhhhhh! Well atleast I will have more time to work on my eyeshadows and have more time to get some quality blogs up. I recently have been working on a blog for my very good friend Debra Jo Fondren and would love you guys to check her page out Click here to view Debra's official Blog . Other than that I have been keeping myself busy with makeup tutorials on youtube and still trying to figure out what I am going to do for Halloween and figure out WHAT I am going to be for Halloween! I had it narrowed down to geisha or the little girl on the exorcist but I saw this FANTASTIC tutorial on youtube for a zombie pinup and became completely inspired. I will link the video if I can find it again. Anyways just thought I would give you a little update on whats going on and what not. Hope everyone has a very Happy Halloween!

Ulta, Old navy and Flea Market shopping oh my!
If you didn't already know. I love me some shopping and I love me some deals! These are a few things I picked up in the last week..
Well I went to a big flea market this past weekend and although I wanted everything I saw but I restrained myself and only picked up a couple of things. I have always wanted one of those spoon handle necklaces and I found one for 10.00 but you know me... after wheeling and dealing I got it for 8.00! Never be afraid to ask a seller if they will take less for their item. The worst thing they can do is say no!
If your my friend on facebook you have probably seen my purple bunny ear muffs already, I picked these up for 2.00. I thought they were just too cute. I can't quit wearing them! I turn up the air conditoner everytime I come home from work so I can put them on. I can't wait for winter. Although with this southeast texas heat I don't know when thats ever going to happen!
Ok well this past Monday I scooted on over to the new Ulta they just opened up here. Although they didn't have what I was looking for... I am dying for the Naked Palette by Urban Decay, which if your looking, this item won't be available again until 2011! I did find some other goodies. I picked up a pretty cream lipstick by NYX in the color black cherry. This is a great shade of red! Right now at Ulta if you purchase any NYX products you get a second item for 1/2 off. This lipstick was 3.99 by itself. By the way if you haven't heard of NYX, its really a fantastic makeup company. Great Products with high color payoff with prices that everyone can afford. Wow.. I sound like a commercial!
Last but not least, I felt so great after getting my free loot at ulta I wandered over to Old Navy because I saw a sign that said 40% off clearance. There wasn't too much to choose from but I did pick up a few solid color t's for me to wear to work. A couple of them I only paid .88 cents for!!!! I ended up spending only 7.00 for 4 shirts!

Get your own pair, people! |
You know I had to get another NYX product to get my 50% off! So I picked up another eyebrow powder set. This set is suppose to for blondes but the last kit I picked up that was suppose to be for brunettes is a tad to dark, so now I am just kinda mixing the two and it seems to working out for an exact match. I like the new kits because they also add an eyebrow wax to keep those pesky stray eyebrow hairs at bay. This product was 4.99
I also picked up a jumbo eye pencil from NYX in the color black bean. I love love love these super creamy pencils! I like using this pencil as a base for dark shadows great for a smokey eye that needs some staying power. Although I wouldn't recommend using this as an under eye liner, way too smudgey! I also have this pencil in the color milk and its one of my favorites and has truly become a staple in my makeup kit. They cost around 3.99.
Last but not least I picked up a white shimmer eyeshadow from this company called Essence for a 1.99. Nice staying power and great for highlighting the brow.
So I went to checkout I ended up spending about 13.00 dollars and signed up for their Emails and I got some free gifts! I ended up with an Ulta lotion in Vanilla, thick and creamy and it smells great! I also got an Ulta lipgloss, an ulta eyeshadow and a Kenra hair shine spray!
woooooo hooo!

Shirts for .88? Awesome! |
Well I must give myself a pat on the back I got 4 work shirts, alot of makeup, a piece of jewelry, and the cutest earmuffs ever all for around 30.00!
And ya just CAN'T beat that!
Happy Shopping my Lovlies!

Mrs. Pinhead Makeup Tutorial
The nails were the hardest thing I suppose. I really thought it was going to be easy... yeah right! After trying several different ways I found pulling a nail through a papertowel and using that as a base to dip in liquid latex was the easiest thing to do and held up quite well. Although it gave the look a messier appearance than I hoped for.
Now just dip in liquid latex and apply to face |
Although the sensation of all the nails glued to my face was kinda bizarre this look was alot of fun to do!

Easy Halloween Dead doll Makeup Look using Liquid Latex and Nails!
When I went to do this look my first intentions were I wanted to use string to stitch up the mouth BUT much to my dismay any thread that I had laying around here previously had magically vanished. So I reached for the nails and I think the effect looks really cool! This was a super easy Halloween looks that will only take about 30 mins to do!
Have fun!

Waxing down there?!?!? Yep.
Good Morning my lovelies :)
Well today I thought I would talk a little about Brazilian waxing and a few tips for before and after and a little bit of a walk-through. I had someone recently ask me, "Why not just shave?"... Well I can't knock shaving, as it's a quick fix to a hairy problem. But it will be back tomorrow or the next day.*sigh*
Waxing on the other hand is going to last anywhere from 3-5 weeks depending on what cycle you hair is in.
But you ask me, "What about the pain"... Well I wish I could lie and say there won't be any pain. There will be. BUT.. its not bad. I swear! Almost all of my clients are actually SURPRISED that it isn't as painful as they thought it would be and some hardly feel anything at all! I ALWAYS recommend taking a Tylenol about an hour before. It helps alot!!! If you are a wax "virgin", your first time is going to be your most uncomfortable time, as the skin is just not used to it. BUT as long as you come in regularly it becomes less and less traumatizing to your skin resulting in less and less pain for you. You will also notice your hair coming in thinner and finer! Now isn't that dandy?!?
What to expect when you come in:
Well I always guide my clients to my wax room and show them where they can put their garments. I always have baby wipes and tissues out in case they feel they need to do a quick clean up. I leave them for a few minutes and ask them to be laying down and under the sheet when I return.
When I return to the room. I remove the sheet and see what I got to work with. If my client is extremely modest I will drape them appropriately but I honestly prefer everything out in the open, its faster and easier for me. If the hair is longer than 1/2 inch I will do a quick trim. Remember your hair needs to be atleast a 1/4 inch long but no longer than 1/2 inch. I then will cleanse the area and then add a light layer of powder to help create a barrier for the skin. Then its Waxing time!!!!
Depending on your Esthetician they will either use hard or soft wax. Hard wax does not require strips like soft wax. I myself, prefer hard wax BUT due to the humidity level in my room I just couldn't find a hard wax that could set up right. So after much ado I found a FANTASTIC soft wax by Epilyss that works just like a hard wax . So thats what I use, if any of you beautiful people come and see me! And for any of my Esthetician girlies you can purchase this wax @ Smooth Skin Supply , Its the Millenia lukewarm wax!
So really all you have to do is lay back and let your Esthetician do her thang! She might ask you to help her to pull your skin taunt but other than that just breath and remember Beauty is Pain!!!! HA!
Some things to remember after your wax:
Avoid anything that's gonna make you sweat (yours pores are open and Vulnerable) for atleat 24 hours or so. Including exercise, sex ( dang it!), saunas, hot showers etc..
Avoid tight clothing after waxing (granny panties and sweatpants, yes please!)
Regular exfoliation and AHA's will help prevent ingrown hairs but wait atleast 24-48 hours after your wax
Remember to rebook with your Esthetician as routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure an helps in minimizing irratation!
So there you have it my lovelies!
Happy Waxing!

Maybelline's Falsies Review plus Fall must have 2010 style staples
Well after reading the rave reviews about Maybeline's Falsies Mascara, I decided it was absolutely necessary to go out and buy a tube for myself. LOL. I purchased it in VERY BLACK and it was around 5.00. Not too bad.
Are these flats just not the cutest? These Sequin flats by Mossimo ran me about 12.99. Can't beat that ladies! Sequins are in this fall and this is a way to do it without going overboard. Wear these with a cute dress and jacket or with a pair with your favorite jeans for a casual look. You can't go wrong with these shoes!
If your like me and lose things constantly... such as gloves. I have good news, these cute chunky knit gloves come with a set of 2 and are only a 1.50. Thats only .75 cents a pair ladies. Too cute.
Berets! This particular one was on sale for around 5.00. I also bought a white crocheted one a couple of weeks ago. Not only are they hot for this fall but they make you feel so Ooooo la la. HA!
Well I can say I love the packaging, pretty and pink. But I open up the tube to discover it has a curved wand. Dang it! I always find Mascara with curved wands aren't always the easiest to work with. I believe they are designed to help you achieve a slight curl but I don't see it. Tip for curved wands: point the mascara wand down so it forms an upside u and then apply.
The Bad: I applied only two coats and this is the clumpy mess I ended up with. Unless you are one of those girls that will pick through your lashes with a safety pin (yes, you know who you are) or are willing to take the time to comb comb comb and seperate your lashes it just does not seem worth it to me.
The Good: Color payoff is AWESOME! Super Black!! Really does Lengthen the lashes quite a bit as you can tell from the pictures.
Verdict: Well I don't think I will be repurchasing. I am a swipe and go kinda girl and this Mascara just seems to be too much work. If you DO have the time to unclump then hey, go for it, like I said the lengthening and color payoff are really nice. But in the meantime I am gonna stick by covergirl Lashblast
This is my favoritest mascara |
Ok now onto some Fall Goodies I bought at Target. Prounced TarJAY incase you didn't know, lol.

Lucky Leggings by Assets, these were around the 14.00 mark. Paired with a long Tunic and some boots or a certain pair of sequin shoes ;) these are truely an end of season staple. Another fun thing is you can recycle those summer dresses this fall by adding some leggings and jacket, Voila! your now a cost consious fashionista.

Dia de los Muertos( Day of the dead) Halloween Makeup Look
Heee Heeee this was so much fun!
The following is taken from Wikipedia
"Day of the Dead (Spanish: DÃa de los Muertos) is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and by Mexican Americans living in the United States and Canada. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. The celebration occurs on October 31 in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2). Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts. Due to occurring shortly after Halloween, the Day of the Dead is sometimes thought to be a similar holiday, although the two actually have little in common. The Day of the Dead is a time of celebration, where partying and eating is common"

Choosing the right eyeshadow
- Well my beautiful friend Mandi asked me a simple question on my last blog and after answering it I was like dang, I could have made that into a blog within itself. So I just copy and pasted. Gotta love right click. :)
- By the way Mandi has 2 fabulous blogs you should check out One is about her and her Husbands current journey in life and their goal in adopting a baby, entitled Waites in Waiting http://waiteswaiting.blogspot.com/, if you know someone who is thinking about giving their baby up for adoption please direct them to this site and secondly this sassy librarian is a a book reviewing mama-cita so check out her book reviews at http://quickwitandcharm.blogspot.com/
- Ok , now choosing the right eyeshadow!

- I'd like to know what color eyeshadow looks best on different colored eyes (i.e. what's best for blue eyes, brown eyes, green eyes, etc.). I use purple almost daily on my brown eyes.

- Mandi , You are using a great color for brown eyes! I have brown eyes too and when we swipe on any shade of purple from lilac to dark plum it's really going to make those warm tones in our eye color pop! Dark greens also look nice. Another favorite of mine for brown eyes would have to be a shimmery light blue (think baby blue) or dark gray on the lid paired with really black liner and mascara. Champagne looks good paired with dark brown liner and for a little more drama add a chocolate brown to the crease and give yourself a pretty brown smokey eye. And one of my favorite shades to wear is a bright teal on the lid, cover girl carries an awesome shade of this I absolutely adore. Any brown shadows with real red or ruddy undertones are a no no.
Covergirl Teal, love this color! Black looks good on everyone, but looks super sexy with blue peepers Purple is almost always a hit with green eyes
Eyeshadow update
Well Ladies for the last two days I have been blending, mixing, and having lots of fun making some really pretty shades of eyeshadow
How I have remained relatively clean the last two days is beyond me... all these powders are Messy Messy. But I have been learning through trial and error and wanted to show you the shades I have come up with in the last 2 days! Let me know what you think! Oh and hopefully I will have a new Halloween tutorial for you on youtube in the next couple of days. And if you have any requests let me know!
